Support
Equipment Evolutionary Design System
In
the summer and fall of 2001, Dynamic Concepts, Inc. supported
Marshall Space Flight Center in the development of the Support
Equipment Evolutionary Design System (SEEDS) project. In
this project, Dynamic Concepts, Inc. programmed small, commercially
available mobile robots to use their optical sensors to
recognize patterns on a vertical surface. PocketBot robots,
shown below on the right, were used.

A Neural Network was implemented to perform the pattern
recoginition. A Windows application was developed to visualize
the robot experiments. An animation of the combined robot
navigating the evaluation course, the data sensed by the
robot, and the neural network evaluation tool is shown at
our animations page.
