Robotic Assembly Team
The
Space Robotic Assembly Team (Space RATs) concept focuses
on using an evolutionary algorithm, such as a genetic algorithm,
to optimize a candidate robot design. Working with Dr. Chris
Leger of the Jet Propulsion Lab, Dynamic Concepts, Inc.
used Darwin2K software to optimize the design of a small
robot designed to crawl through tubes. A diagram of the
robot is shown below, and an animation generated by Darwin2K
is located at our animations
page.
